Woman Commits Suicide due to Dowry Harassment

Hyderabad: Due to dowry harassment by husband, a woman ended her life by hanging herself to death in Begumpet on Thursday.Lakshmi, an employee in postal department, was married to software engineer Obulesh some three years back and the couple was staying in Begumpet.

It is learnt that Obulesh was harassing her for more dowry ever since their marriage. She lodged a complaint with the police earlier and was given counselling by the police. However, he did not mend his ways and continued the torture which ended up in a big quarrel between them on Wednesday. Lakshmi took the extreme step after the husband left the house in the evening. Her parents rushed to city from Vijayawada and filed a complaint against the man alleging that he strangled their daughter to death and is manipulating it as suicide.
