When VIPs get stuck in traffic
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma and Cyberabad Traffic DCP Avinash Mohanty, on Monday got a taste of the common man's plight as they were stuck in a traffic jam for almost an hour in Tolichowki. Even the presence of a Traffic DCP himself did not make any difference as they were forced to wait it out and arrive late for an opening ceremony.
The Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma was travelling to Gachibowli to inaugurate a Command and Control Centre at the Cyberabad police commisionerate on Monday. He was accompanied by the Cyberabad Traffic DCP Avinash Mohanty. The inauguration was scheduled for 12:30 pm, however, the Chief Secretary was not able to escape the traffic woes and could only arrive there at 1:15 pm.
The massive traffic jam on the Old Bombay Highway and the nearby lanes occurred due to the ongoing water pipeline laying works for Krishna Phase III. The pipeline works which are usually scheduled to take place at nights, were for unknown reasons, taking place during the daytime on Monday.
The resulting disturbance and enormous inconvenience this caused to daily commuters was witnessed and experienced first hand by the CS and the DCP.
