We are voice of people: YS Jagan
The two-day Farmers’ Deeksha of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy began in Tanuku with a scathing attack on the anti-people policies of the TDP government and the affected sections narrating their woes on the failure of implementing loan waiver and other poll promises.
In his opening remarks, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he would stand with deprived and deceived classes who are bearing the brunt with Chandrababu Naidu going back on his promises.
We started the agitation at Mandal level escalated it to District headquarters and now this twoday agitation is to mount pressure on the State to fulfill poll promises of TDP.
“We will be the voice of farmers, women and other sections that were deceived and their livelihood shattered,” he said and invited them to the dais to share their experiences of how they were deceived by the loan waiver scheme The two-day deeksha is to highlight the failure of the TDP Government in implementing the poll promises of Chandrababu Naidu and the sorry state of affairs on the rural landscape with bankers refusing the give fresh loans and farmers losing the eligibility for crop insurance. The blatant lies of the Chief Minister and the way people were deceived has to be questioned and being a responsible Opposition Party we will be on the people’s side, the Leader of Opposition said.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Party leader Dharmana Prasada Rao slammed TDP leaders, including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet colleagues, for passing unwarranted remarks on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Deeksha.
“During election campaign Chandrababu Naidu has said that he had ignored the interests of farmers while he was Chief Minister for nine years and now he is a changed man and will give top priority to farmers and women groups.
Farmers and women are the two most vulnerable sections of the society and believed the lies of Chandrababu Naidu on the loan waiver. After coming to power he has ignored the promises and the loan waiver given was just Rs 3,900 crores. Even that amount was released with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy taking up the loan waiver issue seriously at various forums, “he said.
Farmers and women groups did not repay loan as they blindly believed Chandrababu Naidu’s promises, they are now defaulters and bankers are refusing to give fresh loans. “The plight of the farmers is so severe that Rs 56,900 crores was earmarked by bankers for agriculture loans in Andhra Pradesh, after the division, and could not disburse the amount as majority of the farmers are defaulters. The institution of agriculture finance and crop insurance was dismantled by the TDP government, “he said.
Elected representatives are relegated to irrelevance with party cadre infiltrating the committees that are dictating terms, he said adding that YSR Congress will always stand with the affected sections and the Deeksha of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is part of venting voice of the affected sections
