Lucknow: Nearly 70 girls of a residential school in Muzaffarnagar were forced to strip down by a warden to check for their menstrual blood after she found blood stains in the hostel bathroom.

Some blood was found in the bathroom. The warden ordered us to remove our clothes. It was very humiliating for all of us.

The incident which occurred on Thursday sparked protests from the girls' families who wanted authorities to take action against the female warden. Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School students said that the warden rounded up and forced them to remove their clothes. The girls alleged that the warden threatened to beat them up if they didn’t pay heed to her.

“Some blood was found in the bathroom. The warden ordered us to remove our clothes. It was very humiliating for all of us. We want action against her,” one of the students said. The warden has been suspended with immediate effect. However, she denied the allegations saying that she acts sternly with students only regarding their studies, hence they don't like her.

“Some blood was found on the floor and wall of the bathroom. I wanted to check if everything was all right with the girls. Such young girls are sometimes unable to express themselves. I just asked them if anything was wrong,” the warden said in her defence.
