50-Year-Old Sentenced To Life For Raping 3-Month-Old Baby

Hyderabad: A 50-year-old man sentenced to life imprisonment and Rs2,000 compensation on Thursday for raping a three-month-old baby.

Padi Krishna(50), kidnapped the baby from her house on November 20, 2015 and raped her. When her father found her missing, he along with his family went in search of her. After hours of searching they found the baby in the arms of Krishna. The accused had given irrelevant answers when they questioned how the baby had come to him. He also noticed the baby was bleeding. When he took the baby from him, the accused fled away. Doctors at a private hospital found that the baby was subjected to sexual abuse.

The baby's father lodged a complaint with the Hayathnagar police on November 22. The police registered a case of rape (IPC 373), Kidnap (363) and various sections of the Nirbhaya Act and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and formed teams to hunt for the absconding Krishna. He was caught on January 9 last year.

The prosecution succeeded in proving the charges against him in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge court at LB Nagar. Judge Sunitha Kunchala delivered the judgment on Thursday, giving Krishna life imprisonment and Rs2,000 cash fine.
