The YSRC Party Honorary President of the YSRCP and Pulivendula MLA, YS Vijayamma led a massive demonstration at Vempally, against frequent power cuts in the area.

Protests were also staged in front of sub-stations of Simhadripuram, Vempally, Pulivendula areas.

Addressing a mammoth gathering, Vijayamma said the government had promised seven hours of power supply, but was unable to ensure supply for five hours. She accused the Transco authorities of neglecting the needs of the farmers and said they had been taking the public for granted with unauthorized power cuts. Even street  don't seem to be in order, she added. Industries were severely hit by the power crisis, she pointed out.

Vijayamma observed that the state government had failed miserably in getting additional power, commensurate with the growing demand and said that the Centre had to be pressurized on this subject.
