Two hurt in a minor explosion at Rajahmundry

Two men succumbed to injuries after a low intensity blast hit Rajahmundry railway station. Manukonda Krishna and Kondala Rao were the victims. The former sustained injuries on his face, while the later injured one of his legs.

Manukonda Krishna was entering the railway station with a bag filled with iron pipes that contained blasting material concealed in a pack of broomsticks. The explosion took place after the bag accidentally slipped from his hand. Later, a bomb disposal squad was called to check if there were any more explosives.

Police are trying to investigate why the particular passenger was carrying a bag filled with explosives. The passenger urges that some people had asked him to keep the iron pipes with him. He said he had turned down that request and he himself expressed shock after he realized that the pipes had reached his bag.

Both the victims have been shifted to government hospital and their condition is said to be stable.
