Vijayamma asks PM to cut fertilizer costs

YSR Congress Party honorary president, YS Vijayamma on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to help farmers.

In the letter, she requested the prime minister to reduce the prices of fertilizers keeping the country's food security in mind. In the last two years, the minimum price of rice has gone up by 25 per cent, while the fertilizer prices have multiplied by 300 per cent, she has said in her letter.

YSR had taken several measures for agriculture sector and the growth rate during his regime was recorded at 6.87%, she described in the letter.

She expressed her concern towards farmers, saying the present agricultural policies is a huge burden on them. Vijayamma appealed the PM to cut down the prices of fertilizers.
