Victory from there surely fetches cabinet berth!

Narsaraopet assembly constituency in Guntur holds a rare record. He who becomes an MLA from Narsaraopet will find his way to the ministry and may even go on to become a chief minister.

Thus this is a bellwether constituency where the winner has always been a member of the ruling party.

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy won twice from Narsaraopet and had been a minister in the cabinets of both Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy and Damodaram Sanjeevaiah. Later he went on to rule the state as the chief minister for seven years.

Since 1983, it was Kodela Sivaprasad's turn to win the election. This TDP heavyweight has always been part of the ministry. In fact, is the first and the only home minister from Guntur district.

From 2004, it was the turn of Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy to win from Narsaraopet. He had won in both 2004 as well as 2009 and on both occasions, he was member of YS Rajasekhar Reddy's cabinet. After YSR's demise, Kasu was part of Rosaiah and Kiran Reddy governments.

Quite interestingly, the constituency has given three chief ministers - Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy and K Rosaiah. They were all MPs either before or after being in the CM's post.

For the first ever time in the history of Narsaraopet, greenhorns are locking horns this time. The people here are confident that whoever wins may go on to become a minister.
