Kirlampudi (East Godavari): Congress stalwart and Member of Parliament V. Hanumantha Rao has staged sit-in at the residence of Mudragada Padmanabham, who has been fighting for BC status to Kapu community, and faced a bitter experience at the site.

Initially, police had obstructed senior Congress leader from entering Mudragada's residence after which he staged sit-in right in front of the house protesting the obstruction from police. However, after a while, police permitted Hanumantha Rao to enter Mudragada's house where he met him and expressed his solidarity with the Kapu leader's agitation.

Meanwhile, the sugar levels of Mudragada Padmanabham have reportedly gone down as he has been on indefinite fast at his house in his native village Kiralmpudi in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh state. Several people staged protests by banging on the food plates with spoons and ladles.

On the other hand, police have imposed many restrictions including picketing and no entry for non locals into the district and have turned Kirlampudi into a virtual fortress by turning away supporters.
