Betting on GHMC elections reaches a crescendo

With all major political parties testing their respective strengths for the first time in Hyderabad city, there is more than usual excitement about the GHMC elections.Hyderabad being a matter of common interest to both Telangana and residuary AP, there is a lot of anxiety about the results of GHMC election which were held on February 2.

The obsession has gone to such an extent that people are betting crores of rupees on the election results. The betting is taking place on division-wise results, overall tally and the mayoral prospects. After the polling, an exit poll predicted a clear victory for the ruling TRS. It's undeclared ally AIMIM is likely to get 33 while TDP-BJP combine could manage to win 25 and Congress scrape through with just five seats. In some 22 divisions, the results are too close to call. Hence there is great interest about the results in these constituencies.

The poll was conducted in 18 circles covering all the 150 divisions in the city on Tuesday at polling stations.
