Unrelenting YSRCP raises special status issue
On the second day of the Assembly session too, the Opposition YSRCP was relentless on the issue of AP Government’s failure on the issue of special state status. The YSRCP insisted that the issue be taken up for discussion setting aside the question hour.
However, the ruling party appeared inclined to have the question hour. The YSRCP said this was a ploy to offset the discussion on the all-important issue. YSRCP members trooped into the well of the house and showing placards, they demanded that the issue be taken up forthwith.
Raising the issue, MLA G Srikanth Reddy said the statement made by the chief minister on the floor of the house was ambiguous on the agitational path. “How can it fight as long as its MPs are part of the Union Ministry?” he asked.
Later, leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohar Reddy said this was a very important issue and suggested that the question hour be suspended for the statement. He said the TDP government was trying to push the issue to the background by keeping it at the end of agenda on Tuesday. He accused the ruling party of adopting both dilatory as well as diversionary tactics to stall discussion on the issue.
YS Jagan also said that the statement given by Chandrababu Naidu on the floor of the house did not address all the issues and that it did not match with the note circulated.
Later, the speaker adjourned the house for 10 minutes. Speaking to mediapersons after adjournment, YSRCP MLA K Sridhar Reddy said the speaker was cutting off the mike of YS Jagan at every opportunity, but has given 27 minutes for the ruling party. He said the TDP government was wary of touching the subject.
