Unprecedented Crowds In Varanasi As Modi Takes Part In Road Show
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the temple town of Varanasi on Saturday for a massive road show amid huge and unprecedented enthusiasm among the people. Modi represents Varanasi in the Lok Sabha.
Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah and other senior leaders were present to greet him when he arrived at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in a special Indian Air Force chopper. After a brief interaction ,he moved in his bulletproof car in a cavalcade to a guest house. Thousands of people lined up along the routes of Modi's road show, ahead of the March 8 polls. Modi greeted thousands of people, who lined up on the roads and waited patiently for him in their balconies and roof-tops. People showered flower petals on him and chanted Modi Modi as he waded through the narrow lanes and bylanes of the city.
A minor scuffle between Samajwadi Party (SP) and BJP workers took place outside the Singh Dwar of the BHU from where the Prime Minister will start his road show. At another point, SP workers erected a stage in the middle of the route road and the police had to forcefully remove it before deatining seven SP workers.
