TRS MP Kavitha Gifts Brother KTR Helmet On Raksha Bandhan
Hyderabad: TRS MP K Kavitha on Monday tied rakhi and gifted her brother and Telangana Minister for Industries and IT K T Rama Rao a helmet to promote road safety.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with traditional fervour across the state on Monday. According to a statement issued by the Lok Sabha member, she has started a campaign to "gift your brother a helmet this rakhi" which is getting immense support. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness to curb two-wheeler accidents and wearing helmet to have a safe ride.
Prominent personalities that include central ministers Nitin Gadkari and Smriti Irani, shuttlers Jwala Gutta and Saina Nehwal, cricketers Mithali Raj, Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir and Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Orissa have supported the campaign started by Kavitha. Lakhs of people have supported Kavitha's social media campaign in which she has appealed to all the sisters to gift a helmet to their brothers and spread awareness on curbing two-wheeler accidents, it said.
Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan recently launched Kavitha's weblink www.sisters4change.org and supported the campaign by appealing to all the sisters to gift helmets to their brothers. Meanwhile, a Raj Bhavan official said school girls tied rakhi to Governor ESL Narasimhan as part of the festival celebrations. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's sisters tied rakhi to him.
Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated in BJP office in presence of union minister Bandaru Dattatreya.
