TRS MLA Demands Apology From Kancha Ilaiah Over His Controversial Book Referring ‘Komatollu’ 

Hyderabad: Controversy surrounding social activist Kancha Ilaiah over his book ‘Samajika Smugglarlu Komatollu’ is aggravating by the day with the latest to train guns TRS MLA Ganesh Bigala demanding an apology by the writer. The Nizamabad MLA sought apology from Kancha Ilaiah for hurting the sentiments of Arya Vysya community and also demanded the withdrawal of the book.

"The book doesn’t deserve the attention at all as it is not in national interest. The book shouldn’t have been published at all. His remarks have outraged the Vysya community and he should apologize," said Ganesh Bigala. He further added that, earlier he offended the Brahmins community by writing a similar book, but he was ignored and the same should be done now.

Arya Vysya associations said that the title of the book is derogatory and demeaning to their community and demanded that the book be withdrawn by the professor immediately. The book was released on Sunday and it led to protests across the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana state Vysya chief co-ordinator Nizam Venkatesam also condemned the claims of Kancha Illaiah that Vysyas are earlier non-vegetarians and later turned vegetarians.

Meanwhile, Kancha Ilaiah sought police protections saying that he is facing a life threat. He also addressed media person on Tuesday, stating that, “Social Smuggling is a phrase. It is the economic process of exploitation, which means earning in business but not investing back into society." Kancha Ilaiah is the Director, Center for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy at MANUU.
