TRS Declares 143 Candidates, Way Ahead of Opposition

Hyderabad: With the deadline for filing nominations closing at 3pm on Sunday, TRS declared 143 of its candidates contesting the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.The ruling party is much ahead of the opposition Congress which announced only 45 names so far fearing that the candidates might be poached by TRS if declared in advance. However, BJP-TDP combine is lagging behind in identifying suitable candidates for various divisions. A bitter internal fight is going between the two parties as local leaders blaming each other for either selecting wrong candidates or wrong party allotment.

On the other hand, TRS is also facing problem with local leaders in various divisions with some of them filing nominations as rebel candidates. In KPHB Colony, Janagam Suresh Reddy, a TRS prospect for a long time, filed nomination as rebel as Adusumilli Venkateshwara Rao has been allotted the party ticket. With today's 65 names, the TRS has declared total 143 candidates out of 150 divisions:
