Politics Not My Cup Of Tea: Ravi Teja
Hyderabad: Amar, Akbar, Anthony... No, it's not a Telugu remake of the old Amitabh Bachchan classic, but the much awaited Ravi Teja's film which will hit the marquee tomorrow.
The film trailer shows Ravi Teja in three contrasting shades as Amar, Akbar and Anthony, leaving his fans under the impression that it could be a triple role. On screen with his comical timing & rotor-mouth dialogue delivery, the actor is quite under-spoken in his interviews. For every question posed by the media in a recent Press Meet, there was one standard answer ..."you will know everything when the film releases, it's just another 24 hours"!
Check out excerpts from his interview:
About hits and flops
Actors and directors give both flops and hits. There is no rule that every film has to be a hit and the audience has to like everything. Failure for me is just temporary. I live in the moment and as soon as my film flops, I feel sad about it for a while and forget it the next day and start afresh.
Triple role in Amar Akbar Anthony?
To know whether I have done a triple action role or a character with a split personality will all be revealed on the big screen tomorrow. What I can tell you is that the role of Amar was my personal favourite. It was intense and had shades of emotion, whereas Akbar and Anthony will be fun-loving characters.
The challenges of playing a triple role
It's challenging for any actor to play dual roles and I felt the same for this role as well. It has given me immense satisfaction and the audience has to decide whether they like it or not.
On working with Sreenu Vaitla again
What's wrong in working with him? We have done three films together Nee Kosam, Dubai Seenu, and Venky. This is my fourth film with him and he has showcased me wonderfully in the past. When he came up with this story (Amar Akbar Anthony), I had my own doubts, but the way he clarified the plot convinced me and I am sure he won't make the same mistakes again. He has invested a lot of time and effort in this film.
About other characters in the film
There are no spoofs in this film. In the flash back episode, you will see actress Laya and Abhimanyu as friends, my son Mahadan was supposed to essay my childhood character but because of dates clashing with his school schedule he couldn't. Sunil will entertain us like he did in Dubai Seenu and comedian Sathya will be the highlight in this film. Thaman is a fantastic music director and has composed wonderful tunes for the film as always.
About working with Ileana again
Ileana is a talented and sincere artist. We have worked together in Kick and Deveudu Chesina Manushulu. She has also dubbed for the first time in Telugu for this film and put in a lot of hard work to get her dialogues right. It was great fun working with her after six years and we share a good rapport.
On experimenting with new roles
I have done different roles in films like Ee Abbayi Chala Manchodu, Naa Autograph Sweet Memories, Nenithe, Sambho Siva Sambho. They flopped but that won't deter me from experimenting with new roles. I wouldn't mind doing a periodic film. If I like I will do any film that comes my way and try doing different projects in future. Taken is one Hollywood film which I still watch and would love to do a film like that anytime. Apart from this, I am watching a lot of Netflix these days and I hope to do a web series some day.
What keeps him going
Being positive all the time is what keep me going. If you keep negativity, stress and depression aside, everyone will be happy. I don't read about politics nor do I know anything about politics. Movies are all that I know
About a three-film deal with Mythri Movie Makers
No, all those are rumors, I don't have any three-film deal with Mythri Mythri Movie Makers. But I am doing VI Anand's film which is not a remake of the Tamil Theri , there is one more in the pipeline with Santhosh Srinivas and another with Puri Jagannadh. But they should all fall in place for me to say anything further.
About starting a production house
I have no such plans as of now and if I do you will hear it straight from me. Don't buy any of these rumours floating, he said before signing off.
Amar Akbar Antony also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Sunil, Vennela Kishore, Sreenivas Reddy, Sathya Aditya Menon, Abhimanyu Singh, Sayaji Shinde and Laya.
