This Ex-cricketer Will Play a Different Political Innings From Next Week
Former cricketer and former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu finds himself at crossroads. After he resigned from the BJP, he expected a grand welcome in Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Admi Party. However, the AAP refused to project him as its CM candidate. As a result, Siddhu had backed off.
Though the Congress Party invited him to join and former CM Amarender Singh extended a personal invitation, Sidhu finds Congress unattractive.
Sidhu, a two-time MP, has been a disgruntled man ever since he was made to stand down in 2014 to enable Arun Jaitley to fight from Amritsar. Sidhu was later nominated to Rajya Sabha. However, he was miffed that the party had chosen SS Ahluvalia over him for ministerial birth and resigned from the MP post and also the party.
With nowhere to go, now the Sixer Sidhu has hit a political sixer by announcing that he would form a political party on his own.
Sources say that Sidhu is planning to rope in hockey maestro-turned-politico Pargat Singh, Bains Brothers - simarjeet and Balwinder. He is palnning to form a new party next week. The party will be named Awaaz-e-Punjab.
His wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is still a BJP MLA, says the front will fight to protect the interests of Punjab. “We will fight against those hurting Punjab,” she said.
