Theft-Accused Flees Police Station, Tries To Jump Off Building In Shamshabad

A theft accused has created quite a sensation in Shamshabad area by threatening to jump off from the top of a two-storey hotel on Saturday morning.

The youth, identified as Shami, is known to commit small thefts and on Friday night, he was arrested in connection with a theft in Shamshabad. Shami managed to flee from the police station and hid on the roof of Bawarchi hotel on the highway. Seeing the police approaching the building, he threatened to jump off the building. When the police reached the top of the building and tried to nab him, he jumped off the building. But, one of the caps had moved with alacrity and managed to grab one of the hands of youth. The youth then hung there for some time, before falling on the first floor. He suffered minor injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. The police suspect that the youth may be mentally unsound and are planning to shift him to Erragadda hospital.

Due to the high drama which lasted a little over two hours, the traffic on the busy highway was affected in the area.
