Sarita To Become First TSRTC Woman Driver

Hyderabad: Sarita, who is employed with Delhi RTC as driver would soon become the first woman driver in TSRTC’s fleet.

According to reports, Sarita has given her nod after she was approached by Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Friday to become the first woman driver with TSRTC.

The minister said that Sarita, who belongs to Samsthan Narayanpur tribes in Nalgonda District, will be given priority in the upcoming drivers recruitment drive under the women's quota. Reddy said that women in the State have failed to utilize the special reservations for driver posts in TSRTC and requested the women drivers to make use of the opportunity.

The minister further said that the government has already provided 40 “She Cabs’’ to woman drivers. “If saritha wants to drive a cab, we are ready to provide her a car,’’ he said.

Saritha has won several accolades and is a recipient of Woman Achiever's Award.
