ESI Scam accused Dr K Padma - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: One of the prime accused in Insurance Medical Services scam (ESI Scam), Warangal ESI joint director, Dr. K. Padma, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pills at the Special Prison for Women at Chanchalguda here on Saturday.

She was taken to Osmania General Hospital for treatment, where the doctors declared her condition as stable and put under observation.

As Telangana state prisons director-general Sandeep Shandilya's statement, Padma who was a remand prisoner, fell ill two days ago. She was taken to the prison hospital and prescribed some medication.

On Saturday evening, she had reportedly consumed the medicines more than the prescribed limit and fell ill after a bout of vomiting.

The prison authorities immediately rushed her to the prison hospital first and later shifted her to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.

Police are said to enquire about what the prisoner has consumed and how she possessed something other than those provided by the authorities. It was learnt that Padma’s family members had earlier visited her in the prison and had spoken to her. Whether they gave her any medication or not is yet to be ascertained by the Police.

On September 26th , the Director of Insurance Medical Services, Dr.Ch. Devika Rani and Joint Director K. Padma were arrested by (ACB) Anti Corruption Bureau, for committing financial irregularities in the supply of medicines and other surgical kits to dispensaries and Employee’s State Insurance (ESI) hospitals across the State. Others arrested include Insurance Medical Services (IMS) Assistant Director Vasantha Indira, a pharmacist and 12 others.
