Telangana Government Announced The New Liquor Policy Notification
Hyderabad: Government Special Secretary Somesh Kumar issued a notification announcing the Telangana Government’s new liquor policy on Thursday, September 3. The New new liquor policy will be effective from November 1, 2019 to November 1, 2021. The government had made all the arrangements for the new liquor policy.
Telangana Government is focussing to increase alcohol sales to gain huge profits and to drastically increase the revenue of the state as liquor is the main source of income to the state.
The liquor shops which fall under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) can sell the liquor from 10 am to 11 pm, while other shops can sell till 10 pm.
The Chief Minister KCR led the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government has an increased non-refundable application fee from Rs 1lakh to Rs 2 lakh which is double the previous amount, and then it will choose the shop owners through a lottery system. The Telangana government to fix the license rates based on the population of a particular area.
TRS government hopes that with this change of removing huge amounts as refundable money deposits, they can even attract all the small scale business people towards liquor sales, which will yield fruitful results to make huge revenue gains.
The Hyderabad district currently has 212 wine shops and 225 bars, out of which Rangareddy district has 412 wine shops and 405 bars. The new policy is likely to increase the number of wine shops all over Telangana.
In the year 2017-19, the license fee for GHMC-based wine stores was Rs.1.08 crores and for two years it was Rs.2.16 crores. Now there is a possibility of a fee hike in the business of liquor stores in these two years.
