HCA President Mohammed Azharuddin Meets KTR
Hyderabad: Newly elected Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Mohammed Azharuddin met IT minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday at the Buddha Bhavan here and asked him to extend his support and cooperation for the development of cricket in the state.
Along with Azharuddin, the newly elected HCA panel members also met the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader.
In the meeting, KTR congratulating the panel, assured that TRS will extend its full-fledged support to the association.
KTR and Azharuddin meet has gained political significance as there are speculations that the former Indian cricket captain could be joining the ruling TRS. After Azharuddin was elected as president of the HCA on Friday, speaking at a media conference, Azharuddin said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is the boss of Telangana. This comment has created a buzz in political circles about Azharuddin's getting into the party.
There is a flutter in political circles too that CM KCR had indirectly helped Azharuddin become the HCA president, where another contender for the post was G Vivek, a former MP who played a key role in HCA affairs.
Setting aside speculations about him joining the party, the TPCC working president said that he only met the minister to request TRS government to provide support to the game of cricket. Azharuddin promised to recognise the youth who has talent in cricket all over the 33 districts.
"We want to get everyone involved in the development of cricket beyond the parties," Azharuddin said, adding he will also meet the CM to ask for his cooperation in the development of the sport in the state.
