Sangareddy: Open-Air Gym Set Up For Inmates At District Prison
Hyderabad: Taking a new approach to providing the inmates to get motivated towards a healthy lifestyle, the Telangana Prisons Department is setting up an open-air gymnasium at the Sangareddy District Jail.
Recently, the prisons department installed the FM radio facility at the jail, a source of entertainment. These initiatives have been launched to reform and rehabilitate the prisoners. Now, to promote the physical health of inmates, the Prisons Department is setting up the gymnasium, which is the first of its kind in Telangana.
The approach is to improve the physical fitness of the prisoners and the gym will include at least 10 types of fitness equipment set up in the lawns. The required equipment will be procured through the manufacturing unit in the Sangareddy district jail itself. The gym will be in function within the next 10 days, according to a senior official from the Prisons Department. The gym facility will be available in both the morning and evening hours with a Jawan deployed to guide the inmates in doing exercises.
Housing 240 inmates, the jail already has prisoners participate in yoga, physical training, and parade activities.
