Telangana Braces Up For Rains As Monsoon Likely To Arrive On June 20
Hyderabad: The Indian Meterological Department have predicted that monsoon will reach Telangana on June 20, with the pressure over Bay of Bengal.
The revised schedule notes that monsoon will reach Andhra Pradesh by June 18 and Telangana by June 20.
The monsoon currents have extended to Kerala completely on Saturday, IMD official Raja Rao told a leading daily. The monsoon has appeared weak as its progress was slowed down due to weak rainfall activity over Karnataka, AP and Telangana for the last few days.
Monsoon is delayed as a result of Cyclone Vayu that sucked away the moisture and increased the temperature across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The monsoon is likely to bring respite as the Telugu states were reeling under severe heatwave with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius.
Previously, it was forecasted that the monsoon would arrive by June 12, however, it was delayed due to the Cyclone Vayu draining all the moisture, which further resulted in the increase in temperature across Telangana, particularly Hyderabad.
