Eight-Year-Old Comes In Contact With High Tension Wire, Electrocuted

Hyderabad: In a fatal accident, an eight-year-old girl got electrocuted after coming in contact with a high-tension wire which was hanging on the terrace of her house. As per the details, the victim, identified as S Lakshmi, a Class III student was playing on the terrace of her house with her younger sister on Sunday.

The incident took place around 12.30 pm when the high-tension wire was hanging close to the building. The victim climbed the fence and leaned to grab a threat stuck on the wire, thus coming in contact with the wire. She was immediately electrocuted and the impact caused her to fall back on the terrace.

Hearing to the screams of the younger sister, the girl's mother working in the kitchen rushed to the building and found her elder daughter lying on the floor. The family members rushed her immediately to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad but she succumbed to death within almost 30 minutes while undergoing treatment.

A case under the CRPC (code of criminal procedure) 174 (unnatural death) has been registered by the police, who are investigating whether the Electricity Department is at fault as the wires were hanging low.

Earlier in February, a 6-year-old kid had succumbed to death after coming in contact with an underground wire near a lamp post. The incident took place in PBEL society, an area which falls under the Cyberabad zone. Two mechanics, who were involved in messing up the wiring connections were arrested by the police.
