1. CBI Issues Summon To Sujana
The CBI has issued summons to former Union Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Y S Chowdary for questioning in connection with obtaining Rs 364 crore from the Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, and Andhra Bank through Best and Crompton Engineering Private Limited in a “deceitful” manner through falsification of accounts and submission of false statements. The agency has asked him to appear before the investigators at its Bengaluru office on Friday.
2. Expert Committe on Inter Results
The three-member expert committee set by Telangana government to look in to the result errors have suggested that errors in the software used for processing exam results data of 9 lakh intermediate students in Telangana could have led to discrepancies. The committee will be submitting their 10-page report to the government on Friday.
3. TSRTC Bus Found In Maha
A bus of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation that was stolen from Hyderabad on Wednesday was found dismantled in a yard in Nanded district of Maharashtra.
4. Opposition Parties Meet Guv
Opposition parties in Telangana urged Governor E S L Narasimhan to order a probe by a judge of the High Court into alleged irregularities in declaration of the Intermediate exam results. Claiming that close to 20 students had committed suicide due to the bungling by TBIE, it sought a direction to the government to pay Rs 25 lakh compensation each to the families of these students.
5. Chevalla MP Denied Bail
Congress leader and Chevalla MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy who was earlier booked by the Banjara Hills police has been denied anticipatory bail by the Nampally Criminal Courts in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He is accused of allegedly confining, threatening, and assaulting a sub-inspector and constable at his office in the city last week.
6. Zilla Parishad Employees Cry Foul
Zilla Parishad employees in Krishna district have alleged that Rs 350 crore is missing from their collective provident fund account. The employees have accused the TDP governmnet of swindling the money. They have alleged that until the announcement of polls, the provident fund account had Rs 350 crore, but it is now left with Rs 90,000 only.
7. Telangana Congress Alleges Conspiracy
Telangana State Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the ruling TRS was conspiring to strip it of its main opposition status in the state assembly through defection of MLAs, and make the AIMIM as the main opposition. About 11 of the 19 Congress MLAs have decided to quit the party and join TRS.
8. Nurse Sells Babies For 30 Years
A retired nurse of Rasipuram Government hospital in Namakkal district, in a recorded conversation, can be heard rattling off prices for the illegal sale of new borns. She is heard saying that she has 30 years experience in "selling" newborns.
9. Rave Party In Andhra Pradesh
A rave party that was organised at Visakhapatnam's Rushikonda beach on April 13 have been taken note by Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police R P Thakur. A drug peddling gang has been arrested. Thakur stated that the case was 'disturbing' and said that the city police would soon launch a 24x7 phone number to receive complaints regarding the drug trade in the city.
10. Cyber Frauds Siphoning Money
Cyber criminals are now drawing money from accounts by procuring their details from e-commerce sites and using booking applications. So far, cyber criminals have skimmed Rs. 3 crore across the country.
