Telangana High Court Orders Revaluation Of 3 Lakh Inter Exam Failed Students

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has been directed by the Telangana High Court to conduct a revaluation of answer sheets of all the failed candidates in the Intermediate examination results which were released recently.

The Court on Tuesday allotted time to the TSBIE board till April 29 to decide the time required for the completion of revaluation.

The petition was filed by an NGO, which also sought a probe into the lapses and compensation to the families of the students who ended their lives. The Intermediate examinations were held in February-March this year with a total of 9 lakh students appearing for them. The results, announced last week caused mayhem among students with many top scorers of the first year, failing in the second year exams. Shockingly, they were awarded zero, one or two marks.

While admitting to some errors in declaring the results, TBIE Secretary A Ashok assured the students that the discrepancies would be rectified. The state government has ordered an inquiry into the alleged lapses in the system deployed by Globarena Technologies, appointed by TBIE to conduct the exams.

Led by Managing Director of Telangana State Technological Service GT Venkateswar Rao, a three-member committee has been formed with Professor A Vassan of BITS Hyderabad and Professor Nishanth Dongari of IIT Hyderabad.

The committee has been asked to submit a report in regard to any errors in the publication of results on account of any systemic errors of the agency in three days.

At least 18 students committed suicide and many others attempted to end their lives as they failed in the examination.
