Brain Dead Girl Saves 5
Kothagudem: Brain dead patient saves the lives of five patients through organ donation. According to the details, Abhinaya(14) a resident of Kothagudem, was pursuing her 10th class in the Goutham Model School here in Kothagudem.
Abhinaya was severely sick and was admitted to Yashodha hospital in Malakpet, Hyderabad. After examination doctors confirmed that she was Brain dead and scope to regain her health was bleak.
Doctors had declared her Brain dead and reported that all her key organs in her body are still functional, with a few limitations. The doctors had suggested for her organs to be donated as many lives could be saved.
As her family agreed her eyes, Kidney, liver, and heart were later transported to Chennai, where five patients suffering from ailments got a new lease of life. The organs were ferried to the Begumpet airport from the Malakpet hospital in a record time of 14 minutes, thanks to the help of the Hyderabad traffic police. They had arranged for a green corridor allowing for an uninterrupted commute from Malakpet to Begumpet.
The mother and brother of the girl are still in shock of her death. She had lost her father, a senior journalist from Kothagudem, the previous year.
