Telangana Seeks Rs 2000 Crore Central Aid For Loss Due To Rains

Hyderabad: Telangana government has sought financial aid from the Centre to compensate an estimated loss of over Rs 2,200 crore following heavy rains that wreaked havoc in the state last month.

The loss includes crop damage, loss of properties and damage done to infrastructure mainly roads. We submitted a detailed report to the Centre and requested for assistance. Rajnath Singh responded positively

A delegation led by deputy chief minister Mahmad Mahmood Ali, finance minister Etela Rajender, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma met union home minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Sunday and sought for financial aid for the rehabilitation work.

A preliminary report on the extensive damage caused to various agricultural crops, livestock and other properties was submitted to the union minister.

"The loss includes crop damage, loss of properties and damage done to infrastructure mainly roads. We submitted a detailed report to the Centre and requested for assistance. Rajnath Singh responded positively," the delegation told reporters after the meeting got over.
