Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao zeroed in on Naveen Rao as TRS’ candidate for the upcoming election to elect an MLC under MLA quota. The position fell after Mynampalli Hanumanth Rao who hitherto held the post contested and won Assembly election from Malkajgiri in December last.

The TRS leadership sprang a surprise with its announcement on Monday as Nalgonda TRS leader Ghutta Sukhendar Reddy’s name was heard prominently so far for the said position. Chief Minister KCR is believed to have reached out to Reddy as he is disappointed with the announcement. It is learnt that KCR promised to nominate Reddy for one of the three MLC seats which are expected to become vacant soon.

It is not yet clear if opposition, Congress party, wants to field a candidate. Otherwise, the election of Naveen Rao is expected to become unanimous. The Election Commission has already issued a notification for the upcoming election.
