BJP Candidate Seeks Permission To Set Own Lock In EVM Strongroom

Nizamabad: BJP candidate from Nizamabad constituency, Arvind Dharmapuri, who has contested the Lok Sabha poll has requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) for permission to set his own lock for the strongroom with the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips.

He submitted a letter to the District Collector and Returning Officer in this regard. The BJP Leader in his letter said, "I request you to allow me to put my lock to the strongroom in which EVMs and VVPATs used during the General Elections to the House of the People (Lok Sabha)-2019 are stored. Kindly do the needful."


His letter is yet to elicit a response from the polling body. Arvind Dharmapuri contested against the sitting MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

The Lok Sabha polls were held in Telangana on April 11 and the polling will conclude on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
