Pocharam Srinivas Reddy To Be Speaker Of Telangana Assembly
Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao after a round of discussions with his party members has finalised the name of Pocharam Srinivas Reddy for the post of the Speaker in the Telangana Assembly. Earlier, Pocharam had met KCR at Pragathi Bhavan and was informed by the TRS Chief that he was chosen for the Speaker post. Srinivas is an MLA from Banswada Assembly constituency and is the senior most MLA among the TRS MLAs. He has been elected as an MLA for six times.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was born on February 10, 1949 and began his political career with the Congress party. He later joined the TDP in 1984 but quit the TDP in 2011 to join the TRS to actively participate in Telangana separate statehood movement. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has extensive experience as a legislator and has served as minister three times - twice in the TDP Government and as the Agriculture Minister in KCR's cabinet in 2014.
The Congress party after its CLP meeting at Gandhi Bhavan has decided not to contest for the post of Speaker which could make his election unanimous. He will file his nomination papers today and his election will be declared on Friday in the House by Protem Speaker, AIMIM's Mumtaz Ahmed Khan.
