Congress MLAs Ask Rahul Gandhi To Appoint CLP Leader

Hyderabad: The newly elected Congress party MLAs to the Telangana State Legislative Assembly have decided unanimously to leave it to AICC President Rahul Gandhi to appoint the CLP leader. After a meeting convened for this purpose the MLAs arrived at this decision. The high command is expected to announce the name of the CLP leader on Thursday evening.

Earlier AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal met the newly elected MLAs on Thursday morning in a meeting, after which he addressed the media. He said it was a unanimous decision taken by the MLAs to ask Rahul Gandhi to nominate their leader.

It is being said there is a tough race among some Telangana Congres leaders for the position. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Sudheer Reddy, Sabitha Indira Reddy and Sridhar Babu are learnt to be among the main contenders in the race so far.

The CLP meeting was held at one of the committee halls in the State Legislative Assembly. Also present in the meeting were AICC General Secretary RC Khuntia, party MLC and senior leader MD Ali Shabbir, AICC secretaries K Sreenivasan and Saleem Ahmed.
