Release Revanth Reddy Immediately: CEO Rajat Kumar To Police

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar asked the State police to immediately release Telangana Pradesh Congress working committee (TPCC) working president Revanth Reddy from detention. At around 3 am on Tuesday, the Congress MLA contestant was taken into preventive custody from his Kodangal residence to prevent any untoward incidents and disturbance feared to be caused in the constituency ahead of caretaker CM K Chandrashekhar Rao's (KCR) election rally.

Earlier, a lunch motion condemning his detention was filed in the High Court. While KCR's meeting in Kodangal is scheduled to be held in the evening, the lunch motion would be held in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy's wife Geetha Reddy was about to file a complaint to the returning officer before Rajat Kumar's order came out.

Revanth Reddy's motion mentioned that a bandh was never called for in Kodangal. "You are informed that Revanth Reddy never called for a bandh at Kosgi. There is no complaint with the DEO (District Election Officer) as could be known from the DEO’s office before you instructed the police of Telangana state. The caretaker CM also has to be treated as a former MLA but you seem to have treated him as a Chief Minister and given instructions under the influence of state machinery to prevent Mr Revanth Reddy and kept them under preventive arrest," it mentioned.

The Congress working president was provided with a chopper for his election campaign across constituencies before the poll campaign ends at 5 pm on Wednesday.
