KCR’s Farm House Comment, Handy Tool For Congress Against TRS

Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao - Sakshi Post

Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's (KCR) comments on his plans to retire from politics if the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is not voted to power comes as a golden opportunity to the Opposition parties. "I have nothing to lose if TRS loses. I will take rest at my farm house or do farming. But, TRS's defeat would mean a defeat of Telangana," he said in a public meeting.

KCR further said that it was not a silent revolution but a powerful revolution in the State, citing the massive following he enjoyed wherever he went in the State. Irrespective of the intention behind KCR's farm house comment, there surely is an element of defensive attitude and that was the only part which found space in the media, leaving out his criticism of the Congress and TDP. Although it would altogether be a different discussion if we were to discuss whether KCR is scared of a defeat or not, it is quite surprising that he made such a comment when his electioneering exercise was gathering steam.

The TRS chief gave a weapon to the hands of the Opposition with the comment, which might have been targeted in gaining the confidence of the people. After KCR made the comment, Congress president Uttam Kumar Reddy was quick to respond with wishing KCR good luck resting in farm house. Uttam predicted that KTR would return to the United States.

Congress working president Revanth Reddy was one step ahead in saying that KTR would have to be served a red corner notice after the Congress comes to power. Though it is natural for Congress to attack the TRS, KCR's comment would give an impression that he was planning on moving away from public life.

Nevertheless, KCR should refrain from repeating such a comment or he should give an explanation to his comment. On the other side, the social media is playing to several false reports that cite random surveys. Also, the political parties are circulating survey reports in their favour constituency-wise. The people of Telangana should, however, maintain the sanctity of their vote.
