Telangana Under Police Raj: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana legislative assembly leader Kishan Reddy said that by removing the dharna chowk near Indira Park here, the ruling TRS government was running a police raj in the state. Talking to press persons here today, he said state Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not trust his own ministers and also Secretariat. He alleged that KCR was trying to bury the panchayat raj system which was the key for taking governance to the grass-root level.
The BJP MLA said the state government was trying to do away with Sarpanch system and was trying to have its hold on panchayats. Grama Sabhas were the authorities to issue ration cards, pensions and patta pass books, but the government was behaving otherwise. He accused that unless people supported TRS, they would not be given tractors and other subsidy items. He said while the Central government was releasing funds for panchayats, the state was not passing it on to villages.
He asked if there was a state finance commission. Though the government said that panchayat elections would be held as per schedule, no one in the state seemed to know anything about it. Kishan Reddy said KCR was happy with the stay given by High Court for panchayat elections with respect to reservations in panchayat elections. Without the knowledge of finance and home departments many decisions were being taken, he added.
