Telangana Police Launch e-Petty App For Small Cases - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Telangana State police have launched the full version of the e-Petty case mobile application. The pilot version of e-Petty case mobile application became a success in Hyderabad city, informed the police. Looking at the success of the app, it was decided to expand its capacity for the entire state and the new version is aimed at that.

The e-Petty app has resulted in a decline in serious crimes by about 35 per cent to 40 per cent over the last one year, according to the Hyderabad City Police. “The app facilitates police officials to register cases, that too online on the spot through a tab. It will help capture the photographs of the suspects, record crime scene details, geo-tag the crime scene location and digitally collect other evidence on the spot,” said DGP M Mahender Reddy at the launch.

“An important aspect of e-Petty case system is to show up the data of repeat offenders at the time of charge-sheet to enable the court to impose enhanced punishment,” DGP said.

The app captures all details of the offenders such as name, address, phone number and ID proof in the electronic form. The police authorities reportedly use the crucial information to track down the offenders in further investigation. It also helps to identify the root causes for the frequent occurrences of minor violations area, time, person wise, so that the crime can be prevented from repeating.

These petty cases were previously registered on paper and a manual charge-sheet was filed in court. Since it was a manual process, there was no way to verify whether the offender was genuine.

e-Petty is also an evidence-based enforcement tool and used to book the cases with complete evidence in petty violations related to offenses such as public nuisance including street fight, public drinking, drunken brawls, road rage, pollution, gambling and littering traffic obstruction among others.
