Telangana forest department to plant one crore saplings on Monday

Hyderabad: As part of a state-wide ‘Haritha Haram’ tree plantation programme, Telangana Forest department has chalked out a plan to plant one crore saplings in a single day across all districts of Telangana on Monday.

Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and another Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao will launch the programme in Khammam district of Telangana and the saplings will be planted in forests and reserve forest areas in districts across the state for which all arrangements have been made, an official release said.

A state-level officer has been appointed as in-charge for each district in this regard. In Adilabad district- 24 lakh sapling will be planted followed by Khammam- 12.5 lakh, Warangal- 12 lakh, Nizamabad- 11 lakh, Karimnagar- 11 lakh, Medak- 10 lakh, Mahabubnagar- 5.9 lakh, Nalgonda- 8 lakh and Ranga Reddy district- 5.6 lakh.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier launched the two-week-long ‘Haritha Haram’ programme in Nalgonda district. It aims at planting 46 crore saplings across Telangana this monsoon. Flowering yielding and shade providing trees are proposed to be planted as part of the programme.
