Telangana Colleges May Lose Affiliation For Flouting Norms

The AICTE has already begun surprise checks across engineering, pharmacy and MBA colleges - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The future of 50 percent of colleges in Telangana is hanging in balance as they might lose affiliation for flouting norms and not maintaining basic amenities on campuses, says All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The AICTE has already begun surprise checks across engineering, pharmacy and MBA colleges in the state.

Sources said AICTE had made a list of colleges to visit and the prime focus would be on such colleges which were visited only once till date and were given a chance to appeal before the council in New Delhi.

This will make our job easier as we need not ask colleges to close a course

It also issued directives to colleges to be applicable from next academic year that, a course would be closed if an institute has 30 or less percentage of seats filled in three consecutive years.

Responding on this, JNTU-H Registrar Yadaiah welcomed the move saying that it would help universities to maintain standards.

"This will make our job easier as we need not ask colleges to close a course," said Yadaiah.
