TDP's 'Capital' punishment: Fight over location

TDP's 'Capital' punishment: Fight over location - Sakshi Post

A storm seems to be brewing between Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy and Minister P Narayana, who is heading a government panel to build a new capital city in Andhra Pradesh. Both have differing views on the location of the Capital city.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly lobbies, KE said that it was unfair on the part of Narayana to have hinted that the capital would be built near Vijayawada
Stating that Vijayawada has been selected as the temporary capital and there is no adequate land for capital expansion, KE said that after Narayana's statements land prices have shot up in Vijayawada.  He further said that the Government does not have the financial resources to buy lands in Vijayawada at those skyrocketing prices.
In a comment that would rake up a controversy, the Deputy CM denied he was lobbying for Kurnool as the new capital. The demand for Kurnool as capital is very low key and there is no unity among the Kurnool leaders on this, he added.
KE also announced  that over 32,872 acres of government land have been identified within 10 kilo meter radius of all district headquarters. Nearly, 1473 acres have been indentified in Visakhapatnam, 79 acres in West Godavari, 177 acres in Srikakulam, 581 acres in Vizianagaram,  204 acres in East Godavari, 3247 in Krishna, 2012 in Guntur, 559 in Prakasam, 5823 in Nellore, 2050 in Chittoor, 4270 in Anantapur, 689 in Kadapa and 4972 acres in Kurnool.

JC strikes a different note over AP capital, attacks CBN

Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy has come out into the open in criticizing his own government over the location of the new capital.

According to reports, the TDP MP said that no one was listening to his words despite honest entreaties.
In a veiled reference to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, JC said the final decision on any issue in this country would be taken only by the 'Raju' (King).
JC, however, reiterated that Macherla in Guntur district would be most ideal place for the new capital for Seemandhra. Criticizing Chandrababu indirectly, JC said that his demands will not be fruitful and he told the same to the Anantapuram MLAs when they met him over the issue of capital.
Stating that the prices of lands in Vijayawada are sky rocketing, JC advised the government that setting up of the capital there would be an exorbitantly costly affair.
