Taking Law Into Its Own Hands, AP Govt Drops Criminal Cases Against 23 TDP Leaders
Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam-led Andhra Pradesh government has withdrawn 23 criminal cases against politicians belonging to the ruling party after it came to power in 2014.
While some cases pertained to Samaikya Andhra movement, the government also ordered withdrawing serious cases involving election offences and other illegal activities against its ministers, MLAs and MLCs.
While the withdrawal of prosecution for Samaiky Andhra cases may be justified, withdrawal of serious cases pertaining to election offences and other unlawful acts is now boiling into a major controversy.
Prominent among them are - a case of molestation and hurt against minister K. Atchannaidu and a case of attempt to murder against minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao have been withdrawn by the state government.
