Student, Girlfriend Drown While Crossing Krishna River

Gadwal: In a tragic incident, two students were washed away when they were crossing the Krishna river at Rekulapally in Gadwal Jogulamba district on Saturday evening. The deceased were identified as Waris (17) and Sana Jabeen (17).

According to the police, Waris, who was a resident of Emmiganur in Kurnool district, was studying B.Pharmacy in St Joseph College, Errakota.

On Saturday, he left home telling his parents Mohammad Rafi and Muniraba that he was going to college. He reached Gadwal and called up his uncle's daughter 17-year-old Sana Jabeen to come along with him.

Both went to areas around lower Jurala on a two-wheeler. Later, they spent time on the banks of the river Krishna at Rekulapally. As it was getting dark, both of them tried to cross the river to return home and even as they ventured into the river, they were swept away by the currents. The police swung into action and traced the bodies a few kilometres away from Rekulapally.
