Strange case of Aswaraopet MLA
YSRCP MLA and party floor leader in the Telangana Assembly Tati Venkateswarlu is facing a peculiar situation these days.
He does not know to which state he belongs. His constituency is in Telangana, but his home village is in Andhra Pradesh.
This is due to the recent amendment to the A.P.Reorganisation Act – 2014 which enabled the transfer of few dozens of villages that are likely to be submerged by Polavaram project to Andhra Pradesh.
His constituency Aswaraopet is in Khammam district, which is part of the Telangana state. His native place Kannayigutta is now merged into Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters in Aswaraopet on Friday, the MLA said that he would move Supreme Court asking it to decide his state.
The ordinance made the MLA belong to Andhra Pradesh. Some of the mandals in his constituency like Velerupadu and Kukkunur are merged in Andhra Pradesh.
“My voters are now spread out in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. I am in a big dilemma about my state,” said Venkateswarlu.
