State Govt. Mulls To Set Up Hyderabad Clean Air Authority

Hyderabad: In order to check pollution and promote clean air in the city the state governmnet is planning to set up a Hyderabad Clean Air Authority.

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao said that state government is studying the idea, while citing the example of a clean air authority put in place in Tokyo.

"Noting that Hyderabad fared better in comparison to some other cities in the country in Air Quality Index (AQI) we are planning to take measures like shifting out polluting industries from residential locality in the city," said KTR.

The minister spoke on this in the Legislative Assembly as a query on noise in the Greate pollution r Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area.

The other proposed measures include setting up sewerage treatment plant, effluent treatment plants and checking pollution by vehicles, he said.
