Hyderabad: The last rites of Hyderabad's engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was shot dead in the US last week in a hate crime, were performed on Tuesday at Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Jubliee Hills amid a tearful farewell by family, friends and people in general.
The crowds gathered at the crematorium shouted slogans against the President of the United States Mr. Donald Trump holding him responsible for racial hatred that claimed the life of Srinivas.
Kuchibotla's father Madhusudhana Sastry performed the last rites by lighting the funeral pyre.
The mortal remains of the slain 32-year-old were flown in here Monday night in a special cargo flight, which arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport around 10pm.
Kuchibhotla's parents Madhusudhana Sastry and Parvata Vardhini and other family members received the body. After completing all formalities, the body was carried in an ambulance to his house at Bachupally on the city outskirts.
Kuchibhotla's wife Sunayana Dumala, her brother, sister-in-law and another relative reached the city by a passenger flight.
