Ambati Rayudu - Sakshi Post

Ambati Rayudu, one of the favourites for the ICC World Cup 2109 Team India squad, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday.

Rayudu's announcement comes on the heels of Mayank Aggarwal's selection in place of the injured Vijay Shankar. Rayudu who played 55 One Day matches, scored 1694 runs in 55 ODIs, with 3 centuries and 10 half centuries in his career.

It was widely felt that Rayudu would be selected for the World Cup squad, but Vijay Shankar proved to be a surprise selection in his place. The BCCI justified Vijay Shankar's selection terming him as 3-D player to which Rayudu sarcastically tweeted that he had ordered a new set of 3-D glasses to watch the World Cup.

However the last straw which broke the proverbial camel's back was Mayank Aggarwal's selection over him in place of the injured Vijay Shankar , who was hit on the toe by a Bumrah yorker.

As praise for the cricketer continued to pour in from all quarters, working president of TRS, K Tarakarama Rao (KTR) was among those who complimented Rayudu for his contribution to contemporary cricket in India. He took to Twitter to praise Rayudu:
