ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: New Zealand, A Balanced Side

New Zealand - Sakshi Post

New Zealand might seem the underdog when it comes to ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, but this less fancied side is one of the strong contenders for the cup. Few may agree with this line of reasoning, but here’s why. They have a balanced team in terms of batting, bowling and fielding and many of their stars are in good form, as the IPL 2019 season revealed. On a given day, New Zealand is as good a cricketing side as any and as balanced as any of their rivals on the field.

Captain Kane Williamson is in top form. The 28-year-old right hand that can take the game away from the opposition. Trent Boult is one of the top seamers in world cricket today. Martin Guptill and Colin de Grandhomme lend depth to New Zealand’s batting, as do their wicket keepers Tom Blundell and Tom Latham. Lockie Ferguson can go ballistic when he fires, while Henry Nicholls is the other batsman in the squad.

Colin Munro and Ross Taylor are among sound batsmen proving that New Zealand can bat deep. Tim Southee beefs up the pace attack of the Kiwis, while Ish Sodhi, the leg-spinner can be a tough one to handle on a good day. James Neesham is a sound all-rounder, a decent left-hand batsman and right arm medium pacer.

It is not prudent therefore, to write off the Kiwis who could make a strong pitch for their first ICC Cricket World Cup title this year.
