'Sonia meet at Sec'bad would have helped Congress' - Sakshi Post

Senior Congress leader and MLC Md Shabbir Ali felt that the Congress should have organised a Sonia Gandhi public meeting at Secunderabad immediately after granting Telangana and promised crop loan waiver to Telangana people.

These things would have improved the Congress prospects in the elections, he said.

Delay in releasing the election manifesto of the party too has contributed to the party's defeat, he said. He said that Congress party had suffered in the last elections as the release of party manifesto was delayed.

Shabbir Ali was speaking at a discussion organised on the election debacle and on how to rejuvenate the party at the Gandhi Bhavan.

He felt though some leaders had left the party, the cadre were very much with the party. He further said while the Congress had implemented free power supply to farm sector moments after it assumed power, the TRS had done precious little on the election promises even after two months in power.
