AP Govt zeroes in on Krishna-Guntur for state capital - Sakshi Post

The AP Government, it appears, has zeroed in on the area between Krishna and Guntur districts for setting up the new capital.

A team of leaders, led by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration P.Narayana, on Tuesday met the Sivaramakrishnan Committee, which is identifying the possible site for setting up the capital city.

He said: “Vijayawada is one of the largest railway junctions in the country. The city has an airport. It is situated on the banks of River Krishna. It has a four-lane road too,” explained the minister.

Narayana said  Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would meet the Sivaramakrishnan Committee on July 26. “The draft report to be submitted to the committee has also been prepared,” said the minister.

“A  20,000 acre swathe is needed for the capital. We will identify the land within three months,” said the minister.

He said that a technical committee and an expert committee were formed for assisting the government in the setting up of the new capital.
